Future Electronics Announces the VBM-100 Series of Low Profile 100W AC-DC Power Supplies from CUI

Montreal, Canada – May 1, 2014 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, announces immediate availability of  CUI Inc.’s VBM-100 Series of low profile 100W AC-DC power supplies that require no fan.

CUI Inc. has introduced a high performance series of 100W AC-DC power supplies in an encapsulated board-mount package which is just 17mm high. Baseplate (conduction)-cooled, the new VBM-100 series is suitable for applications in which space limitations or noise restrictions make the use of fans for cooling undesirable.

The compact new power supplies accept a universal input voltage in the range of 90V to 264VAC, and provide a choice of six tightly regulated output voltages: 12V, 15V, 24V, 28V, 36V and 48VDC. The output voltage is regulated to an accuracy of ±1% at +25°C.

The power supply also implements active power factor correction, meeting the requirements of the EN61000-3-2 Class D standard. The 117 x 61 x 17mm encapsulated units offer no-load power consumption of <0.5W, and run at efficiencies of up to 92%. The VBM-100 series can operate at temperatures between -20°C and +85°C, and incorporates several protection features, including over-voltage, short circuit, and over-temperature. All models carry UL/cUL and TUV 60950-1 safety certifications, and comply with the EN 55022 Class B standard without the need for external filtering.

Applications include computing equipment, telecom equipment, and industrial equipment.
