Vishay’s extended T55 Series of polymer tantalum chip capacitors offers new devices in D and V case sizes and higher voltage ratings from 16V to 35V. The increased voltage ratings support the 12V to 28V range commonly found in supply voltages for computer peripherals. Future Electronics Releases etech ALERT Promoting Vishay’s T55 Series of Polymer Tantalum Chip Capacitors

Montreal, Canada – January 7, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently released an etech ALERT promoting Vishay’s T55 Series of polymer tantalum chip capacitors.

Offering a wide capacitance range from 3.3 μF to 330 μF with a voltage rating of 2.5 VDC to 10 VDC, Vishay’s new vPolyTanTM T55 series of surface-mount polymer tantalum molded chip capacitors feature ultra-low ESR down to 30 mΩ at +25 °C and 100 kHz.

The low ESR of the T55 capacitors, part of Vishay’s vPolyTanTM series, is a result of their polymer cathodes, which offer enhanced performance over manganese dioxide devices. In addition, the T55 series offers high ripple current capacity and provides low ESR for enhanced charge / discharge characteristics. These type of capacitors can be used for power management, battery decoupling, and energy storage in computers, tablets, smart phones, and wireless cards.

Future Electronics Launches New Video Featuring Vishay’s T55 Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors

Montreal, Canada – November 12, 2014 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has launched a new video featuring the Polytech T55 Series, the first polymer tantalum capacitors from Vishay Intertechnology.

Tantalum capacitors are the best capacitors for applications where stable electrical parameters, efficient use of space, high reliability, and long service life are important. The tantalum dielectric ensures stable electrical performance over the capacitor’s full voltage and temperature range.

Tantalum capacitors have no wear-out or end-of-life mechanism. They exhibit an internal healing effect that improves their dielectric resistance and increases reliability over their service life. Unlike MLCCs, tantalum capacitors don’t exhibit any piezo electric behavior, which could lead to audible and electric noise in an application. This makes tantalum the perfect choice for use in audio/video applications or in other sensitive circuits. Resistance to high temperatures makes tantalum capacitors a great choice for surface-mount assembly technology. Solid electrolyte tantalum capacitors from Vishay offer high stability and excellent reliability for use in commercial and consumer electronics. They are tested and inspected after assembly to ensure long life and reliability.

In polymer tantalum capacitors, a conductive polymer is used as the cathode in place of the Manganese Dioxide used in traditional tantalum capacitors. This polymer material is significantly more conductive than Manganese Dioxide. Polymer Tantalum capacitors maintain all the advantages of standard tantalum capacitors but have much lower ESR and better voltage derating characteristics. Other useful features of Vishay’s T55 polymer capacitors include their wide operating temperature and capacitance ranges.

Thanks to their superior tantalum polymer characteristics, the T55 capacitors are suitable for a large range of applications such as infrastructure equipment, storage devices, networking, computer motherboards, tablets, smartphones, as well as decoupling, smoothing and filtering applications.
