Future Electronics Promotes the DG1408 Series from Vishay

Montreal, Canada – December 10, 2014 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has announced Vishay’s DG1408 Series.

The DG1408 is a precision analog multiplexer comprising eight single-ended channels. The DG1409 is a dual four single-ended channels analog multiplexer. Built on a new CMOS process, the Vishay Siliconix DG1408 and DG1409 offer low on-resistance of 3.2 Ω. The low and flat resistance over the full signal range provides excellent linearity and low signal distortion. The new CMOS platform also ensures ultra low power dissipation, minimized parasitic capacitance, and low charge injection.

The DG1408 and DG1409 can operate from either a single 4.5 V to 24 V power supply, or from dual ±4.5 V to ±15 V power supplies. The DG1408 connects one of eight inputs to a common output as determined by a 3-bit binary address (A0, A1, A2). The DG1409 connects one of four inputs to a common output for both multiplexers as determined by a 2-bit binary address (A0 and A1).

Break-before-make switching action protects against momentary crosstalk between adjacent channels. The part does not require a VL logic supply, while all digital inputs have 0.8 V and 2 V logic thresholds to ensure low-voltage TTL / CMOS compatibility. Together with the compact package, these make the part a great fit for battery operated systems.

The DG1408 and DG1409 on channel conduct signal equally well in both directions. In the off state each channel blocks voltages up to the power supply rails. An enable (EN) function allows the user to reset the multiplexer/demultiplexer to all switches off for stacking several devices.

The advance performance of low insertion loss and low distortion make the device ideal for signal switching and relay replacement in a wide range of applications.

DG1408 and DG1409 are available in RoHS-compliant, halogen-free QFN16, 4 mm x 4 mm packages.

The SX1276, SX1277, and SX1278 are key endnode components in the long range high capacity network system offering from Semtech. Using the LoRa technology, the SX127x family achieves a range of more than 15km (9 miles) in a suburban environment and 2 to 5km (3 miles) in a dense urban environment, while operating under US, EU, Chinese and Japanese regulatory limits.

Most deployed systems for metering, security or industrial automation are limited in range to 1 to 2km (less than 1.25 miles) in a suburban environment. The additional range provided by LoRa eliminates the need for repeaters in these applications, significantly simplifying the system design and lowering the total cost of deployment.

The SX1276 covers all the major sub-GHz frequency bands, while the SX1277 is a cost optimized version targeted at applications that utilize data rates from 5kbps to 40kbps, such as security systems. The SX1278 is optimized for the rapidly growing smart meter market in China, using the 470 to 510MHz band.

All devices deliver over 100dB of blocking immunity to out-of-band interfering signals, which is a 15dB advantage over competing devices. Additionally, the SX127x family has a 25dB improvement over FSK devices for rejecting in-band interfering signals.

This makes the device especially effective in industrial, scientific and medical (ISM)-band applications such as security and metering, because it provides immunity from sub-GHz frequency 4G/LTE signals. This immunity, combined with the SX127x’s highly linear RF front-end, makes it the most reliable and robust solution for operating in the presence of strong interfering signals.

The fast growth of the IOT/M2M market – predicted by industry analysts to total 50 billion nodes by 2020 – provides a great opportunity for the SX127x with LoRa technology. There is a dramatic need for an improved physical layer in this market for long range, low power for battery operation, and low cost for volume deployment.
