The FAN53525, 3.0A, 2.4MHz, digitally programmable TinyBuck® regulator is a step-down switching voltage regulator that delivers a digitally programmable output from an input voltage supply of 2.5V to 5.5V. The output voltage is programmed through an I2C interface capable of operating up to 3.4MHz. Using a proprietary architecture with synchronous rectification, the FAN53525 is capable of delivering 3.0A continuous at over 80% efficiency, maintaining that efficiency at load currents as low as 10mA.

The FAN5325 Series has 3.0A continuous output current capability, with best in class load transient, a 2.5V to 5.5V input voltage range, and digitally programmable output voltage of 0.600V to 1.39375V in 6.25mV steps.

In addition, the FAN53525 Series offers a programmable slew rate for voltage transitions, PFM mode for high efficiency in light load, input under-voltage lockout (UVLO), thermal shutdown and overload protection, and comes in a 15-bump wafer-level chip scale package (WLCSP).

Future Electronics Promotes Micrel’s MIC23163 & MIC23164 DC/DC Converters

The MIC23163/MIC23164 are 4MHz DC/DC converters with HyperLight Load® (HLL) mode and capable of delivering up to 2A in a small 2 x 2mm package. These switching regulators operate from 2.7V to 5.5V with the capability of operating up to 100% duty cycle. The MIC23163/4 has a very low quiescent current of 33µA and achieves as high as 85% efficiency at 1mA. At higher loads, the MIC23163/4 provides a constant switching frequency around 4MHz while achieving peak efficiencies up to 93%.

The MIC23163/MIC23164 feature 2.7V to 5.5V input voltage, 2A output current, 85% typical efficiency at 1mA, programmable soft start with pre-bias start-up capability, ultra-fast transient response, thermal shutdown and current limit protection, 100% duty cycle, offer up to 93% peak efficiency, 0.6V to 5.5V adjustable output voltage, and a power good (PG) indicator, all in a 10-pin 2.0 Å~ 2.0mm thin DFN package.

Future Electronics Offers the AS8506 Series of Battery Cell Monitor and Balancer IC from ams

The AS8506 battery cell monitor and balancer IC eliminates the need for complex software. The AS8506 is a battery management IC dedicated to support cell voltage measurement, monitoring, cell balancing and temperature measurement functions in Li-Ion battery stacks for electric/hybrid electric vehicles or in other industrial/consumer/PV battery applications. It performs distributed cell monitoring and balancing operations for stacked cell modules, including Safe Operating Area (SOA) checks and passive or active cell balancing.

An advanced analog circuit in the AS8506 compares up to seven cell voltages against an internal or external reference with an accuracy of 1mV, to support cell balancing and cell monitoring functions. Cell voltage measurements can also be digitized with an accuracy of 5mV and reported to a host controller.
