Future Electronics Promotes ZigBee Solutions from NXP Semiconductor

Montreal, Canada – April 21, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components founded in 1968 by Robert Miller with corporate headquarters in Montreal, recently announced immediate shipping availability of NXP Semiconductor’s ZigBee solutions.

NXP Semiconductor’s JN516x series is an ultra-low power, high performance IEEE 802.15.4 networking solution available in surface mount module and wireless microcontrollers form. Both options feature an enhanced 32- bit RISC processor with embedded Flash and EEPROM memory, offering high coding efficiency through variable width instructions, a multi-stage instruction pipeline and low power operation with programmable clock speeds.

The modules are already pre-approved for FCC and ETSI regulatory compliance, eliminating the need for expensive and lengthy development times. All that is required to develop and manufacture a wireless control or sensing product is to connect a power supply and peripherals such as switches, actuators and sensors, considerably simplifying product development.

Typical applications include the Internet of Things (IoT), home & building automation, smart lighting, energy-harvesting sensors & switches, remote controls, smart energy, wireless sensor networks, secure low power wireless applications, ZigBee networks, utilities metering, toys & gaming peripherals, industrial systems, telemetry, and remote controls.

Future Electronics the First Distributor to Become an ARM Accreditation Corporate Partner

With Accredited Engineer status, Future Electronics’ applications engineers can help OEM customers make better decisions during the early stages of their designs

Montreal, Canada – February 19, 2014
Future Electronics has underlined the strength of its technical service to embedded design engineers with the announcement today that it has become the first ARM Accreditation Corporate Partner. This is the result of Future Electronics’ commitment to adopt the ARM Accredited Engineer (AAE) program worldwide throughout the company, with a particular focus on the ARM Accredited MCU Engineer (AAME) certification.

Accredited Engineer status is prized in the embedded engineering community as proof of the holder’s detailed knowledge of the ARM® architecture, instructions and capabilities and of the practice of code development on the ARM platform.

To gain an Accredited MCU Engineer certification, the engineer must cover a broad range of topics laid down in the AAME syllabus, practise the implementation of ARM-based designs and then demonstrate knowledge in an exam independently administered by Prometric.

In becoming a worldwide corporate member of the AAE program, Future Electronics is extending its ability to provide advice and support on system architecture to manufacturers of embedded systems. This adds to its existing product-support service provided to users of ARM-based microcontrollers from Future Electronics’ franchised suppliers.

It has also committed resources to training 30 engineers as qualified AAME educators (ten each in North America, EMEA and Asia). These AAME educators will provide training internally to Future Electronics staff to ensure that all field applications engineers (FAEs) who provide microcontroller advice and support to customers gain AAME certification by the end of 2014.

Bruce Jones, Vice President Engineering at Future Electronics (Montreal), said: ‘Our objective is to have the best trained team in distribution.  This added knowledge will ensure our engineers are adding a greater level of value to our customers”

Keith Clarke, VP Market Developmentof ARM said: “This is a significant milestone in the development of our corporate scheme as Future Electronics becomes the first company to gain full Accreditation status. Future Electronics are showing industry leadership with this commitment as they seek to realize the value in providing expert advice on the wide variety of ARM-based core designs to help distribution customers get to market quickly and successfully.”

Future Electronics’ corporate membership of the AAME program validates the company’s ability to support customers using microcontrollers based on the ARM® Cortex®-M series of cores, including the ARM Cortex-M0, -M0+, -M3 and -M4.

Future Electronics provides technical support to OEM customers using a broad range of ARM-based microcontrollers, including devices from STMicroelectronics, NXP Semiconductors, Atmel, Microsemi and Cypress Semiconductor.
