Future Electronics Promotes NXP’s New Narrowband Receiver for Healthcare Monitoring

Montreal, Canada – November 24, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has announced immediate availability of NXP’s new narrowband receivers for healthcare patient monitoring applications.

NXP’s RF-IF building block ICs are ideal for niche market handheld devices. A major niche market is medical monitoring and data management, where a human machine interface (HMI) is critical to the patient’s well-being and life support.

The SA606 can be used to “connect” a cardiac patient’s implanted device to the clinic or doctor’s office via a standard phone line or cellular phone. The application employs the SA606 as a narrowband receiver, used to receive data that alerts system protocols. Information transmitted from the implanted heart device is received using an antenna similar to a stethoscope head attached to the patient transceiver monitor. At a scheduled time or whenever the clinic asks the patient to transmit, the monitor is simply connected to a regular phone line, the antenna is held over the implanted heart device, and the transmit button is pushed. The patient monitor sends the implanted device information and turns itself off when done.

The SA606 is a low voltage high performance monolithic FM IF system incorporating a mixer/oscillator, two limiting intermediate frequency amplifier blocks, quadrature detector, logarithmic Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), voltage regulator and audio and RSSI op amps.

The SA606 remote monitoring receiver operates from 60kHz to 80kHz, using the IF limiting amplifier and RSSI portion of the RF-IF device to amplify and output the amplitude shift keyed (ASK) data to an ADC in a MCU. The MCU has a DSP which is used to resolve pertinent information in the ASK data signal and output the patient’s data and preferred system protocols.

Future Electronics Offers Intersil’s ISL8203M Dual 3A/Single 6A Step Down DC/DC Power Modules

Montreal, Canada – February 20, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently announced availability of ISL8203M dual 3A/single 6A step down DC/DC power modules from Intersil.

The ISL8203M is an integrated step down power module rated for dual 3A output current or 6A current sharing operation. Optimized for generating low output voltages down to 0.8V, the ISL8203M is ideal for any low power low voltage applications.

The supply voltage range is from 2.85V to 6V. The two channels are 180° out-of-phase for input RMS current and EMI reduction. Each channel is capable of 3A output current. They can be combined to form a single 6A output in current sharing mode. While in current sharing mode, the interleaving of the two channels reduces input and output voltage ripple.

Features include a dual 3A and single 6A switching power supply, 2.85V to 6V input voltage range, 1.5ms internal digital soft-start, peak current limiting and hiccup mode short circuit protection, overcurrent protection, and up to 95% efficiency, in a 9.0 x 6.5 x 1.83mm QFN package.
