FUTURE LIGHTING SOLUTIONS LAUNCHES THE USABLE LIGHT TOOL (ULT) VERSION 2.4, FOR UV AND HORTICULTURE APPLICATIONS

Montreal, QC – June 19, 2017 – Future Lighting Solutions, the world-class leader and innovator in demand creation, marketing and distribution of solid-state lighting technologies, announces the inclusion of non-visible LEDs and horticultural LEDs to its Usable Light Tool (ULT). Available free of charge to engineers worldwide, the ULT enables lighting designers to simulate usable light from LEDs, allowing the user to make critical LED selection decisions.

The UV and IR markets are expected to grow significantly in the next five years. Customers need to have the ability to simulate non-visible LEDs in the same way as for visible LEDs. The ULT now has the ability to process non-visible LEDs such as UV-A, UV-B, UV-C and IR LEDs along with horticulture LEDs. Different LED vendors publish flux for horticulture LEDs in different units where the 3 options are µmol/s, mW, and lm, which until now, had made it difficult to compare performance between horticulture LED vendors.

“Users can now select LEDs with different flux units where the ULT will automatically convert the flux of the second LED to the unit of the first LED in order to generate an equivalent comparison,” said Patrick Durand, Worldwide Technical Director at Future Lighting Solutions.  “Making sense of µmol/s versus mW is now automatically processed, which will enable our customers to quickly and accurately select the most appropriate LED for meeting their needs,” added Durand.

For more information about the ULT, visit: http://www1.futurelightingsolutions.com/ULT/

LAUNCHING THE LIGHTING SYSTEM CREATOR (LSC) VERSION 1.1

Montreal, QC – November 30, 2016 – Future Lighting Solutions, the world-class leader and innovator in demand creation, marketing and distribution of solid-state lighting technologies, announces significant enhancements to its Lighting System Creator design tool, available free of charge to engineers worldwide. The LSC, designed for enabling lighting designers to quickly and efficiently design lighting systems, now has the following feature upgrades:

he LSC will optimize the temperature and current to minimize the LED count and suggest the most cost effective approach to meet target specifications using LEDs, COBs, and even modules and integrated light engines.

In cases where the user wishes to consider one specific type of light-source for the application, the user can now specifically select their preference versus being presented with all possible technical solutions.

The LSC now also includes light sources that do not yet have an available LM-80 report. This now enables users to consider recently released products for design consideration in to their fixtures.

The tool also includes an automatic offset that incorporates the efficiency impact of the integrated driver and/or integrated optic for modules and light engines when applicable.

“These upgrades represent significant enhancements and functionality to our tool,” said Patrick Durand, Worldwide Technical Director, Future Lighting Solutions. “This continues our quest to provide our customers with the most innovative and leading-edge tools available to help them build world-class luminaires efficiently,” said Durand.

Over 20,000 Lighting Simulations Completed with Future Lighting Solutions’ Lighting System Creator Design Tool

Montreal, Canada – July 6th, 2016 – Best in class Lighting System Creator Design Tool sees huge uptake in marketplace in the year following its debut.

The Lighting System Creator is a free online design tool offered by Future Lighting Solutions which enables the user to seamlessly create an entire lighting system. The system is generated from a limited set of input parameters and comprises the light source, optics, driver, connectors/ socket, and thermal management solution. Users can run simulations at the application level without having to pre-select a light source, forward current, junction temperature or thermal model.

Powered by a proprietary algorithm leveraging light source LM-80 data, the LSC automatically suggests appropriate and application specific light sources based on value engineering principles and determines the optimal forward current and temperature to meet target flux, efficacy and L70 lumen maintenance values.

“There is no other tool in the industry that is able to consider thousands of options – from packaged LEDs, to COBs, to modules and light engines. The LSC enables users to make informed system design decisions quickly and effortlessly.” said Jamie Singerman, Corporate Vice-President, Future Lighting Solutions.

“The LSC has enabled me to evaluate multiple design options, including the LED driver, optics and other components, saving me countless hours of painstaking calculations.” said Leonid Aronov, Product Development Engineer, Sentry Electric. “I am also able to quickly determine whether I can leverage a module or light engine versus an LED component to further accelerate time to market.”
