NXP Semiconductor’s JN516x series is an ultra-low power, high performance IEEE 802.15.4 networking solution available in surface mount module and wireless microcontrollers form. Both options feature an enhanced 32- bit RISC processor with embedded Flash and EEPROM memory, offering high coding efficiency through variable width instructions, a multi-stage instruction pipeline and low power operation with programmable clock speeds.

The modules are already pre-approved for FCC and ETSI regulatory compliance, eliminating the need for expensive and lengthy development times. All that is required to develop and manufacture a wireless control or sensing product is to connect a power supply and peripherals such as switches, actuators and sensors, considerably simplifying product development.

Future Connectivity Solutions Announces Immediate Availability of New EZ-BLE Modules from Cypress

Montreal, Canada – April 18, 2016 – Future Connectivity Solutions, a division of Future Electronics, which is a global leading distributor of electronic components founded in 1968 by Robert Miller with corporate headquarters in Montreal, recently announced immediate shipping availability of new EZ-BLE modules from Cypress.

Cypress’s EZ-BLE modules are fully integrated, fully certified, programmable modules designed for ease-of-use and reducing time-to-market. Cypress recently expanded its PRoC portfolio with three new EZ-BLE modules. The modules are a turnkey solution and include onboard peripherals such as crystal oscillators, trace or chip antenna, passive components and the Cypress PRoC BLE radio. The new modules vary in memory sizes from 128-256 kB and 16-32 kB and provide a cost optimized solution.

The PRoC module supports a number of peripheral functions (ADC, timers, counters, EZ-BLE PRoC modules) and serial support protocols (I2C, UART, SPI) through its programmable architecture. The accompanying software, PSoC Creator IDE makes it easy to configure, develop, program, and test a BLE application.

Cypress’s EZ-BLE modules give designers the flexibility of incorporating their custom profiles and services for specific use cases or standard Bluetooth low energy profiles and services for interoperability with existing BLE market devices. The EZ-BLE PRoC modules include a royalty-free Bluetooth low energy protocol stack supporting generic access profile (GAP) roles and facilitates switching between central, peripheral and observer roles.

The new additions to the EZ-BLE module include both fully certified and qualified versions and an uncertified version (CYBLE-012012-10).

Typical applications for Cypress’s EZ-BLE modules include PC accessories, toys, remote controls, gaming controllers, and beacons.

OriginGPS’ Hornet and Spider lines balance high performance with low-power consumption, requiring only microwatts of battery life to achieve a rapid time to first fix (TTFF) of less than one second. Attuned to changes in context, temperature and satellite signals, the modules operate in near-continuous availability, able to pinpoint locations accurately to within approximately one meter with a tracking sensitivity of -163dBm.
