Montreal, Canada – September 29, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has announced immediate shipping availability of CUI Inc’s new PDQ-D series of isolated DC-DC converters.

CUI Inc recently added to its line-up of isolated DC-DC converters with the introduction of three new encapsulated models ranging from 10 W to 30 W. The PDQ10 D, PDQ15 D and PDQ30 D, with 10 W, 15 W and 30 W output of power respectively, come in an industry standard 1” x 1” package, making them ideal replacements for larger 1” x 2” modules. The PDQ D models also feature a 4:1 input voltage range of 9~36 or 18~75 Vdc with high typical efficiencies up to 90%.

Housed in a compact, low-profile DIP package with a five-sided, shielded metal case, the rugged, encapsulated modules measure just 25.4 x 25.4 x 10.16 mm (1 x 1 x 0.40 in) and come available with single regulated output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12 and 15 Vdc or dual regulated output voltages of ±5, ±12 and ±15 Vdc.

Thanks to its wide -40 to +105°C operating temperature range and encapsulated design, the PDQ D series is suitable for convection-cooled equipment and harsh environments with target applications that include telecom, industrial, remote sensor systems and portable electronics.

All PDQ-D models offer an input to output isolation of 1,500 Vdc and feature remote on/off control while single output models also offer output voltage trimming that allows for a ±10% adjustment of the nominal output. Protections for over voltage, input under voltage lockout and continuous short circuit are also included.

Future Electronics Now Stocking Micro Buzzer Products from CUI Inc

Montreal, Canada – August 5, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has announced the company is now stocking micro buzzer products from CUI Inc.

CUI recently expanded its product line to include the industry’s smallest micro buzzer package, with three new models housed in compact, surface mount packages as small as 4 mm x 4 mm. Featuring profile depths as low as 1.9 mm and sound pressure levels (SPL) ranging from 65 dB up to 80 dB at 10 cm, these micro buzzers are ideal for a range of portable equipment applications.

The CMT 4023S SMT and CMT 5023S SMT are magnetic transducer buzzers that are housed in compact footprints of 4 mm x 4 mm and 5 mm x 5 mm, respectively. Both have a low profile of 2 mm, rated voltage of 3 V and rated frequency of 4 kHz. The CMT 4023S SMT, with a 4 mm x 4 mm package, is among the smallest in the industry; it carries an SPL of 70 dB and has an operating temperature range of -20°C to 70°C. The 5 mm CMT 5023S SMT features an SPL of 80 dB with an operating temperature range of  30°C to 70°C.

For applications where electrical noise an issue, the 9 mm x 9 mm CPT 9019S SMT features piezoelectric technology and has a profile depth of 1.9 mm, which makes it one of the lowest profile piezo buzzers on the market. The series delivers a maximum peak-to-peak voltage of 25 V, a rated frequency of 4 kHz and an SPL of 65 dB. The operating temperature range for the CPT 9019S SMT is -30°C to 70°C.

All three models are externally driven, are suitable for use in designs requiring reflow solder assembly for high-volume production, and are available with immediate shipping availability through Future Electronics.

Future Electronics Announces Immediate Availability of 90A Digital PoL Modules from CUI Inc

Montreal, Canada – June 13, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components founded in 1968 by Robert Miller, has announced immediate shipping availability of CUI Inc’s NDM3Z-90 90A digital PoL modules, providing a wide range of control and monitoring features.

The new NDM3Z-90 non-isolated module, available in low-profile vertical and horizontal packages, provides an output of up to 90A. It is intended to meet the requirements of the latest FPGAs, processors and microcontrollers for very high power together with sophisticated control and monitoring capabilities.

The module incorporates a range of advanced digital features, including programmable output range, active current sharing, voltage sequencing, voltage tracking, synchronization and phase spreading. It also implements programmable soft-start and soft-stop functions.

The NDM3Z-90 is based on Intersil’s ZL8801 digital power controller. Thanks to the ZL8801’s ChargeModeTM Control technology, no compensation is required, allowing the modules to autonomously balance the trade-offs between dynamic performance and system stability on a continuous basis. With this feature, designers are able to bypass the traditional practice of building in margins to account for factors such as component aging, manufacturing variations and temperature, which lead to higher component cost and longer design cycles.

The module offers class-leading efficiency and transient response. Efficiency is 91.4% when supplying 1V DC from a 12V DC input, at 50% load. Up to four modules may be connected in parallel in an active current-sharing scheme to produce an output of up to 360A.

Typical applications for the NDM3Z-90 module include PoL supply to FPGAs, processors, microcontrollers and DSPs.

Future Electronics Promotes 15 W and 25 W Isolated DC-DC Converters from CUI Inc

Montreal, Canada – May 20, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components founded in 1968 by Robert Miller, has announced immediate shipping availability of CUI Inc’s 15 W and 25 W isolated DC-DC converters, offering high efficiency in a 1” x 1” package.

CUI Inc recently added two open frame isolated DC-DC converter families to its power portfolio. The PRD15 and PRD25 series output 15 W and 25 W of power respectively in a single square inch of board space. With high typical efficiency up to 91%, these compact low-profile modules measure just 27.90 x 24.40 x 8.40 mm (1.10 x 0.96 x 0.33 in). The PRD15 series features a 4:1 input voltage range of 9~36 or 18~75 Vdc, while the PRD25 series provides a 2:1 input voltage range from 36~75 Vdc.

Both series are available in through-hole and surface mount versions.  The converters’ industry standard pin-outs make them ideal replacements for larger 1” x 2” modules.  For advanced systems, the output voltage of the PRD series delivers fast transient response performance and very low ripple and noise.  Additionally, the series’ high efficiency and 40~85 °C operating temperature range makes them suitable for convection-cooled equipment.  Typical applications for the PRD15 and PRD25 series include microcontrollers, datacom, telecom, remote sensor systems and portable electronics.

Future Electronics Offers CUI’s Design Considerations for Thermal Management of Power Supplies

Montreal, Canada – February 24, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, is offering design considerations from CUI for the thermal management of power supplies.

System designers have a number of options available when considering the thermal management of the power supply and the surrounding system. While effective, forced-air cooling is not always the ideal choice for system designers. By trading off power supply capacity against load, by selecting higher-efficiency designs or by moving to advanced products that employ conduction cooling, it is possible to achieve high performance with little to no acoustic noise through the use of non-forced air cooling. Alternatively, fans can be selected that minimize noise emissions and which provide thermal compatibility over a wide ambient temperature range.
