Future Electronics Announces Availability of IRM-01/02 Miniature AC/DC Power Supplies from MEAN WELL

Montreal, Canada – July 8, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components founded in 1968 by Robert Miller, recently announced availability of IRM-01/02 Miniature on Board Type AC/DC Power Supplies from MEAN WELL.

MEAN WELL recently introduced the IRM-03/05/10/15/20/30/45/60 series ranging from 3W to 60W for the miniature on board type encapsulated AC/DC power supply family. In order to further fulfill the applications requiring lower output wattages, MEAN WELL has unveiled the IRM-01(1W)/02(2W) series.

These series follow the design of IRM-03 series, characterizing the miniature dimension and the ultra low no load power consumption (<0.075W), helping system designers resolve issues of insufficient PCB layout space for the terminal equipment, and also complying with the global regulations requiring low power consumption for electronic devices. Per application requirements, these series are planed with the PIN style type (IRM-01/02) and the SMD style type (IRM-01S/02S) that they are ready for hand welding or SMT onto PCB mother boards of various electric apparatuses or industrial electromechanical facilities.

Typical applications for these series from MEAN WELL include industrial electric apparatuses, mechanical instruments, automation facilities, hand-held electrical devices, and IoT-related digital equipment.

For more information about the IRM-01/02 miniature on board type AC/DC power supplies, and other MEAN WELL products available through Future Electronics, click here.

Future Electronics Announces SL Power Series of 65W AC/DC Power Supply Meeting 4th Edition EMC Standards

Montreal, Canada – July 23, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently announced immediate availability of the SL Power Series of 65W AC/DC power supply that meets 4th Edition medical device collateral standards for EMC.

The MB65S is certified for use in medical equipment in all regions of the world: it is approved to AAMI ES/CSA C22.2/EN/IEC60601-1, third edition with a two-fold Means of Patient Protection (MOPP); it is also appropriate for type BF isolation applications. The design takes into consideration the pending international release of the new IEC 60601-1-2, 4th Edition EMC requirements.

The MB65S internal power supply has been specifically designed for the new generation of medical devices and laboratory equipment that demand a higher level of EMC, EMI and AC input performance. Feature-rich and highly efficient, the MB65S product family consists of eight models; all can easily fit into a compact 1U chassis and provide 65W of convection-cooled power at a single output. The power supply monitors the input and output and the internal temperature, and generates alarms when thresholds are crossed. The MB65S also complies with the stringent EMC rules for applications requiring Class B conducted and Class B radiated EMI performance. Models carry cUL, CAN/CSA and DEMKO approval markings. In addition, the MB65S is rated for 560,000 hours of calculated mean time before failure.

The MB65S power supply operates from -20°C to +70°C and starts up at -40°C. It consumes less than 0.5W when supplying no load, helping prolong battery life when in Idle or Quiescent mode. In addition, the models are fully self-protected against short circuit, over-load and over-temperature conditions.

Future Electronics Releases New Video Featuring SL Power’s TU425 Series

Montreal, Canada – April 3, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently released a new video featuring SL Power’s TU425 Series high performance 425 Watts AC to DC power supply used in industrial and test and measurement applications.

The TU425 product family provides 425 watts of air cooled output power and 300 watts of convection cooled output power, an unmatched amount for power supplies in its class. This level of convection cooled output power ensures that as much power as possible can be used, without the added cost of a fan to cool the power supply, and without eventual fan replacement and field service costs.

The small size of the TU425 series module allows it to fit enclosures in 1U applications, and it comes in 5 standard models that cover the most popular output voltages. It can operate with an AC input voltage of between 90 and 265 Volts AC and includes a Power Good/Power Fail signal, DC OK signal, an inhibit function, remote sense and current sharing for redundant applications.

All models have an isolated 12V at 1A output which is most often used for powering external fans, and they also have an isolated 5V at 2A “always on” output. This output allows the TU425 series module to provide power for additional circuits, like for example a microprocessor, so the resulting piece of equipment can have added functionalities without having to add an extra power supply.

TU425 series modules are compliant to high EMC levels based on IEC61000-4 standards, with 4 kV surge protection, 15 kV ESD protection, 10 V/m conducted RF Immunity and 10 A/m field immunity. The added protection from outside influences means that designers will need less filtering in their design and will require less development for their systems to meet compliance levels.

TU425 series modules also meet Class A levels of radiated EMI with a margin of 3 db, and Class B levels of conducted EMI with a margin of 6db, allowing for easier compliance of emission levels.

The TU425 series power supplies are rugged, reliable and full of features and benefits important to Test Equipment designers, and are ideal for applications including Electronic, Communications, Automated and Environmental Test Equipment.
