Future Electronics Announces Immediate Availability of New PDQ-Series Isolated DC-DC Converters from CUI Inc

Montreal, Canada – September 29, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has announced immediate shipping availability of CUI Inc’s new PDQ-D series of isolated DC-DC converters.

CUI Inc recently added to its line-up of isolated DC-DC converters with the introduction of three new encapsulated models ranging from 10 W to 30 W. The PDQ10 D, PDQ15 D and PDQ30 D, with 10 W, 15 W and 30 W output of power respectively, come in an industry standard 1” x 1” package, making them ideal replacements for larger 1” x 2” modules. The PDQ D models also feature a 4:1 input voltage range of 9~36 or 18~75 Vdc with high typical efficiencies up to 90%.

Housed in a compact, low-profile DIP package with a five-sided, shielded metal case, the rugged, encapsulated modules measure just 25.4 x 25.4 x 10.16 mm (1 x 1 x 0.40 in) and come available with single regulated output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12 and 15 Vdc or dual regulated output voltages of ±5, ±12 and ±15 Vdc.

Thanks to its wide -40 to +105°C operating temperature range and encapsulated design, the PDQ D series is suitable for convection-cooled equipment and harsh environments with target applications that include telecom, industrial, remote sensor systems and portable electronics.

All PDQ-D models offer an input to output isolation of 1,500 Vdc and feature remote on/off control while single output models also offer output voltage trimming that allows for a ±10% adjustment of the nominal output. Protections for over voltage, input under voltage lockout and continuous short circuit are also included.

Future Electronics to exhibit interactive secure wireless access control board demonstration at Electronica 2016

Egham, UK, 19 September 2016 – Future Electronics, founded in 1968 by company president Robert Miller and now a world-class leader and innovator in the distribution and marketing of electronics components, today announced that visitors to Electronica (Munich, 8-11 November 2016) will be able to view and interact with demonstrations of the latest security, cloud connectivity and power technologies for Industry 4.0 at the company’s stand A4.259.

Future Electronics’ stand will feature pods showing technologies grouped into three themes: Experience Security, Experience Power and Experience the Cloud. The ‘Experience Security’ pod will show a live demonstration of Future Electronics’ own Secure Wireless Access Control evaluation board. This board features triple-pass authentication, using a fingerprint reader, an encrypted NFC tag and a numeric keypad for entering a user’s PIN code.

At Electronica, visitors will be able to meet specialist Future Electronics engineers who can show how to quickly configure the three security features of the board, and explain the way it passes or rejects attempts to gain access and displays the results on the board’s integrated LCD screen.

Based on an NXP Semiconductors LPC43S57 microcontroller, A70CM secure authentication IC, CLRC66302HN multi-protocol NFC front end and PCA8885 eight-channel capacitive touch/proximity sensor, the board was developed at a Future Electronics System Design Centre. Security technology engineers from Future Electronics will be able to explain to visitors to Electronica the steps to integrate this kind of security functionality into their product designs.

In addition, stand A4.259 will feature a new, low-cost Future Electronics-developed Microsemi Creative Board, which enables evaluation of a low-power FPGA for safety-critical applications. This board is a flexible system development platform for users of Microsemi’s Igloo 2 and SmartFusion 2 FPGAs, and features connectors for Arduino™, MikroBUS™ and PMOD™ extension boards. It enables designers to rapidly implement a complete prototype system around a Microsemi FPGA and develop a proof of concept.

Future Electronics will be making 40 Microsemi Creative Boards available exclusively free to qualified engineers who apply at Future Electronics’ stand at Electronica.

The stand’s Experience Power pod will exhibit wireless charging, silicon carbide and Power-over-Ethernet products from ROHM Semiconductor, Microsemi and Semtech, as well as Vicor’s highly efficient two-stage (1.8kW AC in/5V DC out) power supply design.

The Experience Connectivity pod features application development platforms for Wi-Fi®, Bluetooth® Low Energy and LoRa™ wireless technologies from STMicroelectronics, Cypress Semiconductor and Microchip. All will be connected to Future Electronics’ cloud infrastructure to demonstrate ‘chip to cloud’ communication.

Paul Donaldson, Vertical Segment Director of Future Electronics (EMEA), said: ‘Visitors who want a practical demonstration of the technologies that underlie the vision of Industry 4.0 and the broader IoT, and who want hands-on advice on the best ways to implement them, should take the time to meet the segment specialists from Future Electronics and to view the developer-ready demonstration boards on show at Future Electronics’ stand.’

For more information before the start of Electronica about the technology demonstrations which will be on view at Future Electronics’ stand, visitors should contact info@my-ftm.com.

Future Electronics Announces Immediate Availability of New Products from Keystone Electronics

Montreal, Canada – September 2, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has announced immediate shipping availability of new products from Keystone Electronics Corp.

Keystone Electronics recently introduced a new series of high current “True” Zero ohm SMT Jumpers which were designed to replace “Zero” ohm resistors without changing board designs or layouts. They are manufactured from Copper with Silver plate, and provide a low impedance and profile circuit linkage with an identical footprint as a zero ohm resistor.

These new SMT jumpers are ideal for high-density, high current PCB packages on power and aluminum backplanes, accommodating all PCB soldering applications including reflow.

Three resistor chip sizes are offered, including 0603, 0805, and 1206, simplifying designs and footprint template compatibility. Packaging is on tape and reel per ANSI/EIA-481 standard for compatibility with most vacuum pick and place assembly systems.

Also newly available through Future Electronics is Keystone’s latest miniature Circuit Board Test Point, which features the ability to be mounted on a PCB via Thru-Hole or Surface Mounting methods. It is designed with a unique hybrid mounting style which maximizes the efficiency of SMT contacts with the strong and durable solder connections to a circuit board of Thru-Hole mounted devices.  The new Test Point has a locating pin design to provide positive location of the device during the assembly process.  When installed on .032 thick boards, the locating pin can also be used as a solder point for thru-hole mounting operations

For more information about Keystone’s new high current “True” Zero ohm SMT Jumpers and the Circuit Board Test Point, as well as other Keystone Electronics products available through Future Electronics, visit: www.FutureElectronics.com.
