Future Electronics Features Micrel’s MIC33163/4 Synchronous Buck Regulators

The MIC33163/4 is a highly efficient synchronous buck regulator with integrated inductor which provides the optimal trade-off between footprint and efficiency. The MIC33163/4 operates at 4MHz switching frequency and provides up to 1A output current. In addition, the 100% duty cycle and HLL mode of operation delivers very-high efficiency at light loads and ultra-fast transient response, making the MIC33163/4 ideally suited for space constrained applications and a great alternative for low dropout regulators. An additional benefit of this proprietary architecture is very low output ripple voltage throughout the entire load range with the use of small output capacitors.

The MIC33163/4 provides a small compact total solution size of 4.6mm x 7mm with very few tiny external components.

At higher loads, the MIC33163/4 provides a constant switching frequency around 4MHz while achieving peak efficiencies up to 93%. It also includes under-voltage lockout to ensure proper operation under power-sag conditions, internal softstart to reduce inrush current, fold-back current limit, power good indicator and thermal shutdown. The MIC33163/4 is available in 20-pin 2.5mm × 3.0mm x 1.1mm QFN package with an operating junction temperature range from –40°C to +125°C.

A new development tool in the PAN1026 family, the PAN1026 Experimenter Kit supplements Panasonic’s evaluation kit (EVAL_PAN1026) by emulating an application environment where a Bluetooth RF module is controlled by an external processor, an environment that reduces both software and hardware development time. This kit is for design engineers using Panasonic’s PAN1026 Bluetooth SmartReady ® RF Module with embedded Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy protocol stacks and profiles and based on Toshiba’s TC35661, baseband controller and ARM7TDMI CPU SOC.

The PAN1026 Experimenter Kit integrates a PAN1026 RF module1, Toshiba’s TMPM369 ARM Cortex-M3 based MCU with 512KB flash memory and serial, USB, CAN and Ethernet interfaces on a single board to eliminate hardware prototyping in the project’s development stages2. A J-Link JTAG debugger interface incorporated in the Experimenter Kit board is compatible with commonly available third party toolchains such as those from Atollic, IAR and Keil. The embedded MCU also supports standard interfaces on the board for Ethernet, CAN, USB (host and device), serial and UART connection.

The embedded dual mode Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy protocol stacks and profiles may be accessed using two command sets.

Toshiba’s TCU command set consisting of over 100 commands is extremely flexible, allowing full access to the PAN1026’s resources and I/O. A superset of the TCU commands, (TCU Superset – TCUS) where one command executes a routine of TCU commands to perform common BT functions, is available using an Abstract Application Programming Interface – A2PI. The A2PI resides and executes Experimenter Kit’s Cortex-M3 MPU.

Future Electronics Offers the FAN53525 Series for Power Regulation, Conversion and Management

The FAN53525, 3.0A, 2.4MHz, digitally programmable TinyBuck® regulator is a step-down switching voltage regulator that delivers a digitally programmable output from an input voltage supply of 2.5V to 5.5V. The output voltage is programmed through an I2C interface capable of operating up to 3.4MHz. Using a proprietary architecture with synchronous rectification, the FAN53525 is capable of delivering 3.0A continuous at over 80% efficiency, maintaining that efficiency at load currents as low as 10mA.

The FAN5325 Series has 3.0A continuous output current capability, with best in class load transient, a 2.5V to 5.5V input voltage range, and digitally programmable output voltage of 0.600V to 1.39375V in 6.25mV steps.

In addition, the FAN53525 Series offers a programmable slew rate for voltage transitions, PFM mode for high efficiency in light load, input under-voltage lockout (UVLO), thermal shutdown and overload protection, and comes in a 15-bump wafer-level chip scale package (WLCSP).
