Future Electronics to exhibit interactive secure wireless access control board demonstration at Electronica 2016

Egham, UK, 19 September 2016 – Future Electronics, founded in 1968 by company president Robert Miller and now a world-class leader and innovator in the distribution and marketing of electronics components, today announced that visitors to Electronica (Munich, 8-11 November 2016) will be able to view and interact with demonstrations of the latest security, cloud connectivity and power technologies for Industry 4.0 at the company’s stand A4.259.

Future Electronics’ stand will feature pods showing technologies grouped into three themes: Experience Security, Experience Power and Experience the Cloud. The ‘Experience Security’ pod will show a live demonstration of Future Electronics’ own Secure Wireless Access Control evaluation board. This board features triple-pass authentication, using a fingerprint reader, an encrypted NFC tag and a numeric keypad for entering a user’s PIN code.

At Electronica, visitors will be able to meet specialist Future Electronics engineers who can show how to quickly configure the three security features of the board, and explain the way it passes or rejects attempts to gain access and displays the results on the board’s integrated LCD screen.

Based on an NXP Semiconductors LPC43S57 microcontroller, A70CM secure authentication IC, CLRC66302HN multi-protocol NFC front end and PCA8885 eight-channel capacitive touch/proximity sensor, the board was developed at a Future Electronics System Design Centre. Security technology engineers from Future Electronics will be able to explain to visitors to Electronica the steps to integrate this kind of security functionality into their product designs.

In addition, stand A4.259 will feature a new, low-cost Future Electronics-developed Microsemi Creative Board, which enables evaluation of a low-power FPGA for safety-critical applications. This board is a flexible system development platform for users of Microsemi’s Igloo 2 and SmartFusion 2 FPGAs, and features connectors for Arduino™, MikroBUS™ and PMOD™ extension boards. It enables designers to rapidly implement a complete prototype system around a Microsemi FPGA and develop a proof of concept.

Future Electronics will be making 40 Microsemi Creative Boards available exclusively free to qualified engineers who apply at Future Electronics’ stand at Electronica.

The stand’s Experience Power pod will exhibit wireless charging, silicon carbide and Power-over-Ethernet products from ROHM Semiconductor, Microsemi and Semtech, as well as Vicor’s highly efficient two-stage (1.8kW AC in/5V DC out) power supply design.

The Future – Microsemi Creative Development Board boasts a 25k logic element (LE) FPGA, offering the lowest cost of entry for both software and hardware engineers who want to evaluate and implement their own unique designs.

The Future – Microsemi Creative Development Board features either an IGLOO2 or SmartFusion2 25k LE device, DDR2 and SPI flash memory, delta sigma ADC, USB and expansion connectors. The USB interface allows one to communicate, program and power the board. Future Electronics Now Stocking New Waterproof Buzzers from CUI

Montreal, Canada – August 12, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has announced immediate shipping availability of CUI’s new waterproof buzzers.

CUI’s Components Group recently announced several new additions to its range of waterproof buzzers. The three new models carry an Ingress Protection (IP) rating up to IP68 and feature sound pressure levels (SPL) up to 95 dB at 30 cm, thus making them perfectly suited for a wide range of industrial and outdoor applications, particularly where moisture and other environmental contaminants are an issue.

CUI’s CPT 1495C 300 and CPT 1495CI 300 are piezo transducer buzzers in a 14 mm diameter package with a height of 10 mm. They have a rated voltage of 30 V and a rated frequency of 4.25 kHz. Both are externally driven and feature an IP67 rating, SPL of 84 dB at 10 cm and an operating temperature range of  30 to 85°C. The CPT 1495C 300 mounts via wire leads, while the CPT 1495CI 300 is wave solder compatible for high-volume production.

For applications where design for continuous immersion below 1 meter is needed, the CPT 2521C 500 offers an IP68 rating and an operating temperature range of  30 to 85°C. Housed in a 25 mm diameter package with a height of 21 mm, this externally driven piezo transducer buzzer features wire leads and an SPL of 95 dB at 30 cm. The series also features a maximum operating voltage of 50 V and a rated frequency of 3.7 kHz.
